We Take Pottery Seriously. Ourselves? Not So Much.
Village Studio & Gallery is a community pottery studio in Charlotte, NC, built on a pretty simple idea: making stuff is better with people.
We have wheels. We have clay. We have glazes. We have kilns that occasionally test our relationship with God.
But mostly, we have people.
Beginners who have never touched clay. Members who practically live here. People who came for one class and somehow ended up with a shelf, a favorite mug, and very strong opinions about glaze combinations.
That's The Village.
We opened our doors in 2021 as Charlotte's first Black-owned pottery studio—because apparently somebody had to do it.
But being first was never the whole point. Building a Village was.
A place where you can walk in knowing absolutely nobody and leave knowing somebody. Where you don't have to be an artist. Where your first bowl can be ugly. (It probably will be. We won't judge.) Where creativity, community, and a little bit of chaos are all part of the experience.
Come take a class. Make an ugly bowl. Make a gorgeous bowl. Make six mugs because apparently you've decided that's who you are now.
Stay awhile.
